John Wright plays organ at St Catharine's Church, Gloucester
Performed by: John Wright
John Wright plays Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in D minor (Dorian)” on the organ at St Catharine’s Church, Gloucester.
Recorded by Martin Mitchell, using the ‘Valkyr’ Extinct Audio BMx2 Stereo Ribbon Microphone.
Martin described the recording process: “The microphone is mounted on a tall stand around 4m high. The organ fires on 2 sides covering a wide angle. The mic is set in M-S and positioned on the diagonal, covering both sides. This recording illustrates the ability of this mic to effortlessly handle complex textures even at high volume, whilst providing an accurate stereo image of the whole instrument. No EQ or processing has been used.”
